There are lots of things to consider when it comes to wedding invitations, so we’ve gathered ten top tips together to help you navigate the world of wedding invites:

1. Get your guest’s addresses ahead of time.

There’s nothing worse than having invites ready to send and nowhere to send them so try to start compiling guest addresses as early as possible.

2. When should invites be sent?

There are no fixed rules but certainly some circumstances to consider. Weekday weddings or those further afield (especially abroad) require extra planning so invites should land at least 3 months in advance.

3. Choose your words carefully.

Deciding who gets a plus one or whose children to include can be tricky but it’s just a case of respectful wording. You can find some useful wording examples on our blog.

4. How many invites do you really need?

Probably less than you think! It’s important to remember when ordering your invitations that you may only need one invite per couple or per family NOT per person.

5. Write your RSVPs before you send them.

To help avoid any awkward exchanges, write the name(s) of exactly who is invited onto the RSVP before you send them.

6. You don’t have to be google.

It’s helpful to include some details but remember you don’t have to provide ALL the answers. Your guests can find directions and somewhere to sleep if required.

7. Give your writing hand a break.

Take your time and space writing your invites out over a few evenings – you’ll be glad you did!

8. Second (Class) to none.

At 76p per first class stamp – this often-forgotten cost can really add up! Second class stamps come in 15% cheaper and deliver in two to three days.

9. Envelope stickers are LIFE.

10. Offer RSVP options.

Guests are notoriously bad at RSVPing to weddings. To make it easier, offer a few RSVP options such as phone or email as well as the old-school approach of posting the RSVP card back.
