We have two unique 1980s Ford Transit Mark 2 Fish and Chip Vans that new can guarantee no one else in the world has, in fact our Red Van Betty is the only known 1980s Fish and Chip Van still operational and on the road!

Betty and Beryl are our beloved vans and in them we have travelled extensively and met and fed thousands of hungry guests with our Delicious Traditional Fresh and Tasty Hand Battered Cod at both small and large events.

We specialise in Wedding Catering and Corporate Event Catering and have established ourselves as one of the Best Premium Fish and Chip Van Mobile Caterers in the UK.

Our Fish and Chip Vans have equipment that you would find in the local Fish and Chip Shop with Range Fryers that allow us to cook at a fast pace helping us serve quickly and efficiently. Our rate of service is 100+ hour allowing us to position ourselves well in the marketplace where a quick turnaround service for Catering at an event is required.

The Hungry Plaice Standard Menu includes Hand Battered Cod, Jumbo Pork Sausages, Vegan Sausages and Gluten Free Jumbo Pork Sausages all served with traditional sides of Mushy Peas and Curry Sauce. We can also cater for Dietary Requirements on request. Whilst our menu is limited due to the restrictions in the van this allows us to concentrate on providing a high quality service using high quality ingredients to our clients.

At The Hungry Plaice we operate using our Sustainability Policy having taken a number of steps to ensure our business provides a Socially Responsible service to our customers for example Our Fish served is Sustainable MSC approved, all our packaging provided to customers can be recycled and we have a recycling contract for our waste oil.

We believe in delighting customers with our food and guarantee that we will provide an unrivalled Professional Service to our clients as well as giving their guests a talking point with our Vans.

Customers are the focus of our business at The Hungry Plaice and we always ensure that we communicate throughout the booking process, the time leading up to the date of the event and on the day itself to ensure our clients are given a top class service and peace of mind with their bookings.

The Hungry Plaice has been awarded a Level 5 Food Hygiene Rating and we have all compliance as would be expected of a Mobile Fish and Chip Van including Public Lability Insurance, Risk Assessments and Gas Certifications.
